London attacks disprove 'flypaper' theory?

To the Editors,

Regarding the London attacks, I was 'surprised' to read that "Freshly trained terrorists, or jihadists, appear to be returning to Europe from the war in Iraq." and that "We've now put a group of terrorists on steroids and given them training..." since according to the 'flypaper theory' the war in Iraq is supposed to keep them from attacking us in New York, London and elsewhere.

Is it possible that the opponents of this war were right when they pointed out that it wouldn't make us safer and could increase the risk of terrorist attacks?
