I got a call on my office voice-mail recently from a "Bradley Bailey" (probably not his real name naturally) claiming to be from Cingular Wireless Support. He claimed he was referencing ticket #CM20051011_124588 regarding 'my' wireless phone with #512-689-xxxx and that if I still had problems I should call 888-892-xxxx to followup.

I don't have Cingular but I'm a nice guy so I thought I'd call and let Cingular know that they got the wrong number.

The scammer is probably counting on this as when I dialed the 888 # I got a message that to connect to the "New National Directory Assistance Svc" and to "receive more information on the number I was calling" I should dial 10-15-15-800 which is brought to you by 'Tel7'. Oh, and by the way, each call will cost $4.99.

So morale of this story: go ahead and be a nice person if you must but pay attention to any # you're told to dial to return a call.
