The Why's of This Journal - So why am I starting a second journal? There's so many things I'm thinking of, reading, studying, pursuing, and doing in this process of "Becoming Jewish" that I cannot share publically (yet) on my "normal" journal. I want to be able to naturally say "So I went to Shul on Saturday morning with Adrienne and Jeff's dad Mike" but I'm not sure my Mom would really get that. Well, okay, to give her some credit, I'm not that worried about my Mom's reaction to my conversion. My dad, he'll be the easiest. My mom and my sister, they will probably figure out how to embrace me and support me. My former brother-in-law is going to be confused and a little worried. My mom's dad and his wife, they're going to be mortified. So you see, I need a separate place to feel safe about bubbling over about everything.

On top of that, there's going to just be some study-natured conversation and some list-keeping. I imagine that as I make my To-Do lists and phone calls, appointments, and take field-trips, there will be more "adventures" for the telling that are really conversion-specific.

And there's just some friends I'm very comfortable sharing this with, and some I am less comfortable with. This forum seems like a great start.
