Well, it's been a crazy whirlwind of a year. Lots has happened to me and mine, and 2008 looks to be no different:

To begin with, my talented hubby stands on the threshold of world domination with the publication of his first novel (due out in the UK this August (we think) and the US in March of '09). He is now home writing full-time, working on Book 2 of the series. (See his new website by clicking here or on "Peephole" in the menu on the left.)

I, too, do not have a day-job at the moment: I started working at a fancy schmancy pharma ad agency in September, and was recently laid off, having lasted only 3 months. I'm not crying too hard, though. I was working obscene hours and dealing with some obnoxious people and truly horrible clients. They gave me 2 weeks' severance and a month of insurance, and right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life. But I'm not really sure I want to start another full-time job right now, since

I'm pregnant!!!!!!

I'm due in July, which means I'll only have about 6 months before I'd have to go on maternity leave. So I'm talking to my headhunter to see what my options are regarding freelancing or temping until then. But besides the employment situation, I'm busy freaking out about becoming someone's mother. Most of it is in a good way, but there are some times when I think "what the hell have I gotten myself into?!?" But overall, I'm healthy and happy and I get to spend more time playing with my neurotic cats (Peat changes the litter now since I'm not allowed).

There are other pregnancies that will come to fruition this year, too: two sisters-in-law and two friends are all expecting! This means that I have a lot of people to commiserate with, and my baby will have built-in playmates. :)

And, Peat's sister is getting married in June, which is sure to bring even more excitement to the mix.

Also, my dad is doing much better every day; he's home and will be done with his IV antibiotics on Tuesday (hopefully). In the meantime, he's building up his appetite (he lost over 50 pounds in 3 months) and taking walks around the lobby of his building to build up his strength.

All in all, 2008 seems to be shaping up as a banner year. Let's hope it's full of happiness and good health for everyone!
