It is odd how the goings on of life make us forget that things will one day end. Despite our often dramatic relationships with the idea of death, the absoluteness of mortality reveals itself either in a shroud and blinding flash, or through the painful loss of a loved one; the latter only forcing us to contemplate the inevitability of the former.

Lately, I'm no longer sure which is more painful.
