2005-02-14 11:12 AM Move over, Rover Anyone remember the late-60's surreal television series The Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan? It was a quasi-continuation of another McGoohan TV series, Secret Agent. The Prisoner was about a spy who resigned from the force, was kidnapped, and found himself prisoner in an oddly picturesque village. Each episode dealt with his unsuccessful attempts to escape.
One of the props from that show was Rover, a sort-of intelligent weather baloon which chased down and smothered escapees. Hard to explain if you haven't seen the show, but I had nightmares about Rover when I was a kid. And now I see science has caught up. They've gone and developed a smaller version of Rover that can patrol the perimeter, and chase down and corner intruders. Now, the big question: who is Number One?
