Australia was 259 runs behind England on the first innings! (In baseball terms, for the US readers, "the visiting side is 15 runs behind at the 3rd innings.")

Hence, England has "forced the follow-on (definition)". [That's when the senond side to bat does so badly that they are more than 200 runs behind, so the first side to bat can force them to bat again in order to humiliate them even further. (Well, it's not qute like that, but it feels that way to the team that is forced to abt again.)]

Hence, I am depressed! The Australian batsmen have 'failed'. Miserably! And, the designated bowlers have somehow not been able to keep up their part of the batting line-up to get the batsmen out of trouble and make the entire team look somewhat reasonable.

I think that I'll take another gulp or two of cheap vino and go to bed and hope that rain stops play for another two days until day 5. (You did read my description of international cricket a week or so ago, didn't you.)
