2007-11-25 2:06 AM So, what went wrong? Well, nothing "went wrong".
It's just that, like many Australians, I just stopped being interested in the Australian federal election of 2007 after about a week of campaigning, when the media began to treat it like a circus and us like fools. I particularly "lost the plot" over the incessant media conjecture about opinion polls! For the record, John Howard conceded defeat at about 10.30pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time, after the polls had closed at 6pm (three hours later in Western Australia). He is likely to lose his seat to a former TV journalist, Maxine McKew; only the second incumbent Prime Minister to be defeated in this way. The Labor Party achieved a (non-universal) swing of about 5.5% against the Liberal/National coalition. _____ Peter Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
