2009-01-23 10:16 PM Robert Burns - Guinness record attempt You do not have to be Scottish to participate.
25 January 2009 is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scottish poet Robert Burns. I urge you all to get a few folk together to toast Burns at 2100 hours GMT on 25 January 2009, and participate in what is hoped to be the largest simultaneous toast per Guinness records. Here is a time zone converter. Note: There are strict requirements (per www.worldwidetoasttorobertburns.com): Easy to follow instructions are below and please note that ANY drink can be used in the toast. (1) The first requirement is to have two persons willing to act as witnesses (referred to from now on as Toast Masters*) to count the number of people raising a glass. Please note that these two persons cannot be included in the numbers for the Record Attempt which simply means that groups must be three persons or more, hopefully much, much more! (2) The second necessity is for the words of the Toast to be the exact same and spoken by one person, (we suggest one of the Toast Masters). Again, since the toast is for Burns, the toast will be “The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns.” (3) The third condition is for the record attempt to be held simultaneously, ie everyone must raise a glass at the exact same time. For World Record purposes, the chosen time will be 9 o'clock in the evening in Scotland, ie 2100 hours GMT. Log into www.worldwidetoasttorobertburns.com) and raise a glass. I have already participated this year in a Burns Supper at which 75 people toasted Burns. _____ Peter Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
