2012-09-29 11:20 PM Saturdaze After the dismal Giants game in San Diego tonight, I watched the Doctor Who "summer finale," and I'm totally wrung out from the emotion. I have to say, I knew something was coming, but I'm always amazed, every time, at how elegantly they confound my expectations. There won't be another new show until Christmas, but these five they had this month will be on disc in November.
By the way, although I love my Samsung TV, I don't love my Samsung Blu-ray player. It's kind of temperamental and doesn't always do what it's supposed to do. I think eventually I'll give up on it and try a different brand. Some of them are cheap enough these days, I guess, to make them almost disposable. I know that in the old days I had to buy a new VCR every year or two. Maybe I just wear them out. We were planning on having a family dinner tomorrow, with John and Suzanne just home from vacation, but not everyone was available. So now we're shooting for next Saturday and will make it John's birthday dinner. Hopefully everyone will be able to make time by then. I have something I need to give to Suzanne, but since we won't be getting together tomorrow, I'll just have to find a way to get it to her. The Giants are limping to the finish line, but nothing can slow down Buster Posey. He's over 100 RBIs now, and he's leading the league in hitting by five points. (Not officially. Officially Melky Cabrera is still the leader, but as soon as they Giants play their 162nd game, his name will come off the records because he will no longer qualify.) Despite best (or worst) laid plans, I didn't get any work done today after all. In fact, I fell asleep this afternoon while listening to an audiobook (which I will have to rewind and replay some time when I'm more alert). I had to wake up for the Giants game, but it really put me to sleep. Tomorrow I'll be home all day, so maybe I'll get something done. Probably not, though.
