I baby sit my granddaughter, Aurelia every Thursday. Yesterday, my friend Shannon and I took her Christmas shopping with us. We met at a fast food joint, and left her car there. We picked Caitlyn up at the house, and headed for Archie McPhee's in Ballard. Shannon had never been any of the three stores on our list, so it was a lot of fun, seeing such bizarre things for the first time. Archie McPhees' is full of novelty and whimsical items, things you don't normally see every day. I bought a few little silly stocking stuffer items, as did she. We stopped at Dick's for a quick lunch to eat in the car, then headed to Bellevue. Shannon is having problems with her foot right now, and is wearing a big boot thing on it. The doctors have told her that a) it isn't plantar fasciitis, b) it isn't broken, c) the deep tissues in there are swollen, and removing the liquid will not aleaviate the pain. She will go in for a biopsy on it soon. Parking as close to the front doors is good, as she cannot walk too good. I chose to park in a parking garage under the store we were visiting. I circled a while, trying to find a spot near the elevators, and we were able to park extremely close. We put Aurelia into the stroller, and made it in to the Container Store. This store has nearly everything one could use to keep for storing anything one could think of. They also have a huge display of stocking stuffer items. I got little vacuums for keyboards, among other items. Shannon found a cute little ring box, that looks like a little shopping bag. It will work great for her daughters ring at Christmas! They validated our parking, and we were off to Kirkland to visit Sur La Table. IT is now 3:30 or so, and the freeway wasn't an option for me, so we headed north along the shore of Lake Washington. It is very scenic, and curvy. Mike and I take it a lot on the motorcycles. There were two empty spots right at the front door, and I was able to dive right in, without having to parallel park. It was beautiful! We spent quite a lot of time there, and still didn't take it all in. I found what I would like to get as a gift, but I did not buy it for myself. Perhaps someone else will, but I will live just fine without it. I don't think I bought one thing at this store today, which for me, is amazing...I can always find a new little trinket for my kitchen, but it isn't about me these days. We made it back to drop Shannon off at her car, then dropped the baby off with her dad. Caitlyn and I met Alisha at the bank where she works, then Caitlyn drove my car home, and Alisha and I went to the Cycle Barn for Ladies Night. (previous post) I was very tired at the end of my day, and I slept deeply. I had a scary dream, that I do not want to talk about, and have been awake ever since. Today, Brittany is coming over. We are having a "Betty Crocker Day". Making candies and cookies all day. I look forward to it... |
