Today was the first day that I prepared dinner with my friend Shannon. She is a single mother and works two jobs to pay the bills. She doesn't have a lot of time to learn to fix many meals, and is sometimes overwhelmed with that daunting task. I decided to help her learn a few easy recipes this year. As a gift, I will spend one day a month, shopping and preparing. Give a man a fish, he eats once...teach him to fish, and he eats many times... We made my grandmothers baked chicken today, with My daughter Caitlyns favorite potato dish. Also showed her how to spice up green beans with fresh garlic. Hopefully it all was received well, and she can do it herself another time. We had my granddaughter with us, as we will for most of these upcoming dinner get-togethers. She is a trooper. I also had my nails done today. When I realised I didn't have much time, I left there too early, and they were not dry enough, and of course, they look terrible now. That should teach me. Mike and I watched the University of Washington basketball game against Stanford tonight. the UW beat them by 1 point...whew....tough game. They really need to shore up the free throws. |
