Ahhhh, I woke refreshed this morning. I set my alarm, not thinking I would even need it, but I did. It went off, and I chose to snooze a few more minutes, then again, then a third time. Oooops...that was one time too many, and I somehow shut it off, and slept deep for a few more minutes. Thinking it was actually a half hour or so extra, I jumped out of bed, and flew into the shower. I hurried things along in there, then got out drying myself rather quickly, when I glanced at the clock....ooooops....I don't have to leave for another hour, I didn't oversleep that long. I then slowed down, and took some time getting ready. Nine hours of sleep feel sooooo good once in a while. At work, a salaried manager called in sick, so I had to replace her with hourly paid crew, which brought my overall labor up considerably. All went well without her, I didn't have to wonder where she wandered off too, or when she would return. I just had to do some planning so I could take my own breaks. No big deal, my crew are awesome, and can handle things fine in my absence. Well, 'cept for a few, and we had them handled. Then Nate came to work. I do not know what it is about that kid, but he drives me crazy. He is a really nice kid, tries to do the right then. It is hard to get upset with someone that is so extremely nice, yet he continues to push my buttons. His way of doing things, produces more work for me, and he doesn't understand that if he just stays where he is, I won't have to walk around him. He tries his best to help out, but he does things that actually slow me down. He was trying his damndest to place a receipt onto a bag, with the sticker. He asks me if this is the correct bag. The only way I would know the answer to that, is by reading the receipt. I tried doing that, while I was putting a large fry into the bag. Wrong Choice...My left middle finger got caught up in the fry heat lamp, and sizzled. I said some pretty profane words, and ran to the ice machine in the backroom. I have no idea if he got the right orders out, and I didn't care. When I came back, I put his big 6'2" frame into the drive thru window area, and moved a cart behind him, so he could not step into my area. I told him to stay there, and I would get him anything and everything he would need. If he didn't agree with me, I would shove his big ass through the window, and into the parking lot. He stayed where I put him, and more importantly,he stayed away from me. He was lucky I had a lot of sleep, and was in a decent mood. The skin is intact, just a blister about a half an inch long, on the top, from just below the nail, past the first knuckle. It hurt to be near the fry station after that. It clashes with my bright red polish. Maybe I should change to a burn red, and it wont be so noticable? |
