I have been ranting quite a bit lately...today is no different. My shift was 10-6. Get there, set up a floor plan, run through a pre-shift, fix a few things, and ready to go. The opening manager does a few things before she leaves at 11. I have a boatlaod of breaks to give prior to noon. I go to the kitchen, and talk to those folks about their breaks. One 'thirty minute', and two 'ten minute' breaks need to go, with everyone back at noon. One of them is in the dish pit, but can help should they need her. One break at a time...GO! The supervisor shows up..."B" is there, yet I did not include her in my floor plan, as I never know what she will be doing. (should I set up two different plans, one with her, one without?)...I could have used a fifth person in the kitchen, but without her, I didn't have anyone to put there. soooooooo....all hell breaks loose. We did $200 more than projected between 11 and 12. Those two 'ten minute' breaks proved too hard for them. I had no one to spare to help them. "B" senses that I need help, so instead of asking me where I need help, she dons a headset, and takes "second orders in drive thru"...what this means, is that my already sinking kitchen, is now drowning. I was trying to pick up all front counter orders, and all DT orders simultainiously, and she doubles the DT car amount. I struggle more. My break will not get out before noon...I will wait until after 1:00...no big deal for me, my crew is more important. The supervisor sees that I need help, and asks me, where can I best help you? I say the grill is dying. They need it worse than anything. He goes and opens "second side". We start to catch up now, and I see one of the crew coming back from a break, the 12:00 folks are now here, and assuming their positions. I think we are done with those kitchen breaks, but low and behold, there is one more ten to go. dammit anyway...she leaves, and the supe asks, "who is taking over for me?" The dish pit lady is still doing dishes, and one of them is going on that last break...omg, I was an angry woman. I said bring her up here, we need her. "but she is still washing the dishes"..."GET HER UP HERE NOW!" I was possessed...So she takes over for the supervisor, and he asks, "who is in charge here?" I say, "I am, but I have not got my people set up right." A tthis point, "B" gets angry, and goes off on me, "AND WHY HAVE YOU NOT GOT A FLOOR PLAN SET UP? YOU WERE HERE AT 10! WHY IS THIS NOT DONE?" Now, she always treats me like shit on her shoe, and like a 3 year old that knows nothing...I went off....oops, should not have done that..."I DO HAVE A PLAN SET UP. I JUST HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THESE PEOPLE INTO THE PROPER PLACES. I HAVE BEEN BUSY RUNNING THIS STORE!" Turns out, she did not talk to me one time the rest of the day. I am okay with that. That position at the Monroe location looks better every day. But really, who would commute 40 miles for my job? I would have to be crazy...Or really looking forward to the backroad commute on my "C". The supervisor was there to do a once a month surprise inspection. Whatever...I passed, with the lowest passing grade I have ever received. I am feeling better healthwise. I drugged up big time, thought perhaps I would overdose and die. Should I be taking sudafed type stuff with an allergy tablet together? It sure has kept the snot away today. Much much better than yesterday in that department. Allergy tabs, sudafed, advil, Cepecol spray (new to me), cough drops, and...vicks vapor rub on the soles of my feet. Dinner is a pre-roasted grocery store chicken, meat picked off the bones, and soaked in BBQ sauce. served on burger buns, with corn and chips. Big glass of apple juice for me. |
