Spring Break

It was a weird day at work today...Seems I didn't stop putting fires out all day. There was something always going wrong, to the point of tears...well, no I didn't cry.

I had two new hires. The schedule has the new girl fully trained and "producing units", but she falls way short on that. I had her in the lobby for one hour, on fries for an hour, then working the front counter for 2 hours. She didn't know she needed two towels for cleaning tables and chairs, she didn't know she would need a bottle of sanitizer, she didn't know how to fill the napkin dispensers...man, I swear she didn't know anything. It was frustrating for me.

The other one, a guy, is totally opposite...he THINKS he knows EVERYTHING...he tries helping, by picking up parts of two of three different orders, when it clearly wasn't all ready. I do not like getting it all on a tray until it is all ready, why should fries sit for a minute or two, and just get cold? Anyway, I finally asked him if he wanted me to go home, as he was taking my job. He said no to that, and I said I could shackle his ankles to the computer, so he couldn't get too far away.

Then Adrianna had Nate come in and work the last two hours of her shift. WHAT? That is like trading a one hundred dollar bill for a two dollar bill, and asking no questions. I had just punched out for my lunch break when I was told of this. I said, "Adrianna, you are my person in charge while I am on a break. Nate cannot do much for himself, why would I say he is okay to cover your shift? That is crazy...I am taking my break, you figure things out"

I had one crew that was scheduled on a day he is not available. I had one girl call in sick. It is spring break, and it was busy...

There was one moment that I laughed pretty hard, I think it was just the shear frustration of the day. Nate was trying to simply add more cones to the dispenser, when it snapped at him, and the metal coils sprang out, and bit him. It hurts like hell when that happens, and all Felix and I could do was laugh. The more we looked at him with his hand in his mouth, like a little kid, the harder we laughed.

What went wrong today:

Ice maker in lobby being "fixed"...to the tune of three hours, then, he couldn't fix it....needs a part. We have to keep adding ice from the one in the kitchen.

cashless pay system...lady using it tears it from the counter. It is now unplugged, and I cannot get it working. rebooting, resetting, everything doesn't seem to help

That same register...when the cashless went down, that register fails to communicate with the rest of the computers. The kitchen cannot "see" the orders taken on it.

Automatic fluch toilet...is full of poop, and the battery runs out. I do not have batteries available, nor do I know how to access them.

Angela calls...asks if I can add stuff to my truck for her store (I don't have TIME for this, but got it done)

Shake machine drops the second shake, making HUGE mess, just minutes after cleaning the first one

Mary yells from back booth..(okay, this happens continually throughout the whole day)

Calgon, take me away!!!

Mike was playing a Wii game when I got home. He then got up, and started dinner, which I did not help him with...it was Slumgully. I am fed, and smelly, and tired...gonna shower, and go straight to bed.
