Okay, finally! Twila is back from Disneyland, and I am back from my vacation. I got around to asking her for that recipe, and she agreed to share it here. As you recall, I referred to them as her "Better Than Sex" cookies, then decided they may be "Instead of Sex" cookies (as I ate too many), then, was trumped when they had to return to the original name of "Death By Chocolate" since I had sex anyway...whatever...The cookies are good, and worth the time and effort. Do not overbake them! Twila, I took your last name off the recipe, I can add it if you want, but hey, that is up to you... Death by Chocolate cookies - by Twila 1 c. butter softened 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp almond extract 1 1/2 c white sugar 2 c flour 2/3 c cocoa powder 3/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1 1/2 c milk chocolate chips (Ghiradelli's my favorite) 1 c. white chocolate chips Preheat oven to 350 degrees In large bowl beat butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla and almond until light and fluffy. In med bowl mix flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt together. Fold dry mix into larger bowl until mixed well. Add chocolate chips and mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 mins and cool slightly before moving onto wire cooling racks. Other add-in's I've tried: Instead of white chocolate chips use mini reese peanut butter cups (from Trader Joe's) Instead of white chocolate chips use chopped up York Peppermint patty pieces or Ande's mints - note Junior Mints are too soft Add slivered almonds or walnuts Add slivered almonds and dried cranberries or dried cherries M&M's I stopped at my 'new' store (it is older than dust, but has a fairly recent remodel) this morning, to meet and greet my new boss. I worked with her previously for a week or two last September. Since we got off on a bad note earlier this week over the telephone, I thought it best to drop by, and start again, as we will have to work together. Besides, I hate when work messes with my melon while on a vacation, and she leaves soon. No sense in her having thoughts of work while on hers. I have no idea what she is doing on her vacation, but it really isn't any of my business. I told her that the store would be in good hands, I would treat it as my own, and that I knew who to call if I needed any help. Mind you I wont be 'in charge' of the place, but that I am capable none the less. I think it was a good move to do what I did today, even if I am still agitated about the whole thing. It is just a blip on my radar, and in the whole scheme of things, probably not worth me getting too excited over for too long. It cannot be any worse than Fridays at Mill Creek. I hear those haven't improved too much, but that is water under my bridge, I am glad to be away from that mess. I started the whole ordeal of telling folks goodbye today. I sat with a few of my favorite customers, and told them my sorted story. They all want me to stay, and I said they could read about what I am up too here, and call the 1-800 number to voice their opinions. Be weird for me to get accolades on that instead of complaints. I worked with Kelly today. He was the one that had the friend with the tattoo a couple weeks ago and a couple of the gay guys were checking him out...yeah... I asked Kelly if he had seen his friend since then. He said he talked to the guys brother, whom says the guy was so weirded out that he may never return. It just made me remember the look in that guys eyes, seeing what was happening. Note to guys: Don't show it if you don't want all of us to look. Just made me laugh harder. Today, a lady came in for her order. Now I looked at her, then I couldn't really take my eyes away. I really don't know what it was about her, but she was the sexiest woman I have ever seen. Not that ladies really set me off in that way, but I was enamored. Kelly asked me what I was up too, and I went over to him, and whispered, "If I was a lesbian, I would do that woman"...Kelly laughed out loud, and replied to me, "Damn, I was thinking the exact same thing"...No, I am not a lesbian, but let's just say there are worse things in the world than those thoughts. It was HOT today. I am guessing right around the 80 degree mark, which for us, is as hot as we want it. Anything more, and we are sweltering, anything less, and I could not do what I did. I took my riding attire into the restroom, stripped down to my bra and panties, put my riding pants and jacket on, rode home nearly nekked. Ahhhhhhh, it was glorious, even at 7:30 this evening. Very nice indeed...Mike was outside, waiting for me so he could wash my bike. I had to remember I could not just take my jacket off and chat with him out there. I walked inside to the scent of tacos simmering. He had everything done, cut/sliced/diced/grated. Very nice indeed... |
