Today was the hottest June 3rd in recorded history here in Seattle. I was inside all day, and my goal was to keep telling the drive thru crew to CLOSE THE WINDOW EVERY TIME! I think they were a bit peeved at me, but it was cooler in there today than it was yesterday. It isn't that the air conditioning isn't working, it is that it cannot keep up. You would be surprised how much hot air comes in from the vehicles. It is a bit rude perhaps that the window shuts automatically, but I think the customers understand that they shut without help. There were a few times people would think there was no one working the first window, and pull up to the second. It amazes me how much that slows the entire process down...but it was COOLER TODAY INSIDE!!! YAY!!! It was also busier. I was asked to run for drive-thru during lunch, which shocked the heck out of me, but I did just fine. In fact, there was twice that I made mistakes simply because I had the order assembled and then it was changed when the car arrived at the pay window. When this happens, we don't always notice there was a change, even with a caution system in place. Our lunch times were decent, and it felt good to do that. Remember I never got that chance at the MC store. I was then thrown into the back booth for two hours. Omg, that is HARD with a double booth system. This was my first experience with it, other that a day from hell that I don't want to talk about where I was covering this store for one shift. Because of that, I was scared to death to go back there without a babysitter with me. I managed just fine, and was able to get into it. Next time you go through one of those styles, just tell the kid working the cash window you think they are doing a good job, and they are underpaid...oh, and Fabby said I did do a good job back there...I am learning the store by working the store, the way it should be. I was hoping to have an hour or two in the office tonight, to get some paperwork done, but it was so busy, I just helped out. Labor was under 15%, so I was doing just what I should've been doing. Came home to steaks out on the BBQ. I had to run to the bathroom so fast, that I stripped all my pink gear off along the path. ahhh, the relief of a toilet when you need one. I was still so hot, I just jumped into a cool shower before coming out for dinner. Yes, I made it just fine. Even Mike laughed at me, asking if I crapped my pants, and that is why I showered. NO, I DIDN'T! it just felt good to get that stink and sweat off me. Diva Dos wants to hang out with me and Aurelia tomorrow. That should be fun. |
