It was actually pleasant at work today. We had enough crew to get the job done. YAY! We do have a lot of new employees, as we do nearly each summer. I had my share of them today, all at the same time. Trying to get them to step up the pace a bit is quite the task. I gathered a few of them together, and showed them how to read the one report we print several times throughout the day. I showed them that it tracks how fast our service is, and that the boss reads these, and uses them as her Bible. The people that can create the fastest times seem to get the most hours. I explained how to see the timer that sends the readings to the computer. They were astonished on the details, but seemed to speed up the service after that. They were "into" it, trying to make the overall times go down, not just the current one. YAY! I ate a big lunch before going to work, so I did not indulge in food while at work. Now, I am hungry, and Mike spoiled himself with Brats and saurkraut. I never did like that stuff, so I will shy away tonight, too. Perhaps a bowl of cereal will trick my stomach into thinking it is full. Tomorrow I work late into the day. Three pm to eleven pm, then I am taking Wednesday off, as someone else talked me into switching shifts. I really don't mind doig that once in a while, besides this gives me one less shift at the current store, as she works elsewhere, and I will work her store on Saturday. |
