I really like being the only manager in the store, on any given day....usually. I was alone through lunch today, because the opening manager had emergency surgery the other day, so that bumped a mid-shift earlier. The opener tells me we are nearly out of flurry spoons, and she has called the two nearby stores, but no one has any to borrow. I think they just blew her off. I sent a text to a supervisor, asking if I should just stop selling them, since I am down a manager/shift and be out of them soon? I thought it was funny that the other supervisor texted me back about it. They found me some spoons, but I had to come up with someone to go fetch them. egads...I didn't want to do that part, but oh well. I sent a crew person, but the journey to the eastside store took him an hour and 15 minutes. Too far to go to borrow anything. The next manager came in at 2:00, and we struggled for a while, since that kid was gone, and we were still missing that manager shift. We were all in good moods, and taking care of business. Later I sent her on a thirty minute break, when all hell breaks loose, and we got real busy. The phone rings, and I answer it, saying my name (which I should NEVER use). The guy talks slow as hell, saying he used to work there, and hasn't for a few months, and who is the manager tonight? I say I can help him. He says he doesn't know me, and wants to know who else is there. I say I am alone, he wants to know who will be in later. I say the girls name, but she is on a break, I can take his name and number and have her call back. He starts going off on me about talking to her. I say I will not go looking for her on her break, just to talk to him right now. I can take the name (again) He then starts telling me that I sound like an old school teacher, and blah, blah, blah...Now I am busy, and getting orders prepared for folks, and yelling their number, and he is still complaining about talking to a girl on her break...I HANG UP THE PHONE ON HIM. idiot. whatever..I tell her about it, and she just kept asking who it was, I HAVE NO IDEA! I say he sounded retarted, and Kelly says, "That doesn't narrow it down much" -shake my head in shame- I will be in hell one day, I am sorry Other than that, I had a great day at work. Rode home nekkid ,under my jacket. Felt great, and suprised me when I took that jacket off at home, I had forgotten. Thank goodness I didn't stop at the store, huh? Mike had a late night, so I releaxed a bit before I started dinner, which was stir-fry. Easy enough to do in 30 minutes. Pretty tasty, too when I add a can of baby corn and water chestnuts to the Costco bag of veggies. Only way I can find enough stuff for my weird pallet. We will run a bunch of errands in the morning, then spend the day at the Bite of Seattle, celebrating my birthday a bit early, but that is what I want to do. Nice that the whole city celebrates it with me each year. YAY! |
