Work is a four-letter word. Lately, is has been just that, even though I have really enjoyed it lately. I think I would be bored to tears in a desk job. Working with various ages of people, from teenagers to retirees, and dealing with every age as customers keeps me on my toes. We have been pretty busy of late, and as schools around here are set to open next week, we are trying to get the teens back to after school hours. They work during the lunch shifts during summer, and losing them is difficult in September. I think that is why I am working much harder lately. Well, that and the fact another fryer went down today. Cooking only two baskets instead of four means you need to be ahead of the game, which isn't easy while aslo short-handed. We were plus $500 over projections by the time I was off duty at 5pm, and my body was weary...deep sigh, guess that is job security. Came home to a house full of people. Brittany was here, andwas watching 3 of Kays grandkids. Charlie and Danny were playing a video game (Wii Sports Resort) while Jamie was in the backyard with Brittany playing in the pool. Caitlyn was fast asleep on a rocker chair, and Mike was using the computer. Britt took the kids home, and came back to a BBQ of flank steaks. Bobbie joined us at some point, and we watched a CSI episode I had never seen before. As always, what a great show for viewing during dinner...notsomuch. Bobbie and I chatted by ourselves for an hour or more. We are really getting to know each other, and seem to get along better than either of us would have thought. I will miss her living here, but not as much as having her as my boss. Her life has been difficult recently. It will all come together soon, she will need patience. I have decided that journalscape is much more a journal than a blog. It has been rather boring, needs more comic routines, prehaps pictures. If they weren't such a pain in the butt to post, I would do it. Well, that and I am lazy...what do ya do? |
