Shore Landing, Yum!

Wed Aug 31 - I had high hopes of wrapping up major portions of my book at work today, but the instructor wrote back (from being in Japan teaching all week) that our cool solution was nice and all, but not necessary if we just did XYZ way back at the beginning to use a hidden script in the background.... *sigh* I can't believe I have to uninstall the data set AGAIN, and try yet another method to see if the labs are on track and working, so I can continue. If I have to look at chapters 1-3 any more, I just might scream. I really want to finish chapters 4-10!!!

But that aside, otherwise it was an okay day at work. I still adore my job, and still adore my coworkers, even if this book is beating me to a bloody pulp. *sigh*

On the flip side, I got to gloat to myself a little bit over dinner when I went out with coworkers from my last job. I say "gloat" because I got to spend hours listening to the latest gossip and kvetching about how bad things continue to slip from worse to even way worse at their jobs. I don't miss the work there at *all*, but I do miss the people. And I think we all had *so* much fun that this might become a monthly dinner get-together for a while.

First Denise, LuAnn, and Eric arrived, so we caught up on some stories and personal things. Then Jade and Rich, and finally Jade's husband Troy. And it was a raucous dinner with tons of laughter and silliness—one of those evenings when I feel bad for the other diners because I think I laugh too loud sometimes. They all had me just absolutely rolling in the aisles, laughing so hard.

And if you're ever in the San Clemente area, south of Orange County, north of Camp Pendleton, take the Camino Real exit and go to Shore Landing restaurant. It's really a great little sports bar and restaurant, with fabulous food and great waitresses. We had a blast, and I highly recommend the place.
