Lightning is Beautiful

Tue Sep 20 - Ah, much more rested today. Yea me. *grin*

If you missed it (in my little weather-watch corner in my journal), last night we had thunder and lightning around town. When I first got in my car to head home from work, I saw my first lightning strike of the seasonal storm that moved in. Then all evening there was lightning, and even a portion of the 3 am hour when there was heavy enough thunder to shake us out of our beds. It was nothing like the thunder storms of my youth, but I still automatically counted seconds between the lightning and the thunder to calculate how far away it was. Habit. (If you've never done this, it's about 5-seconds per mile away.)

So the big push was to complete my training manual in time for class tomorrow. My day was continually interrupted with meetings, birthdays, etc. but still the instructor and I came to agreement on the status of the book. He still hasn't written the last lab, and I found something broken in the 2nd to last lab. But it's a two-day class, and it's an entirely internal audience. So we'll have the perfect opportunity to update the materials later. I got everything copied, punched, and into 3-ring binders in time to head out for the evening.

Tonight I'm headed to the park with some friends who get together every two weeks for fencing practice. It's kind of a only-by-invitation thing, and this is the first time that I'm invited to join them. I'm looking forward to it very much.
