2006-06-14 11:59 PM Habits and Art work Tue Jun 13, continued - Funny, that I went on a little rant about doing tons of things, and then had an accidental-tons-of-things evening. First, I apologize if anyone felt like the rant was directed at them personally--it wasn't directed at anyone individually. It was just a "argh" moment to rant into the universe, feel better for ranting, and then drop the issue. Just in case you were wondering.
As for my evening, I =completely= forgot until the last moment that our monthly baronial council meeting had been moved from last week to this week (because of election day) and so I called and left a message for my keyboardist that I couldn't make it to the studio, then hurried to the meeting. I was only a little bit late, and enjoyed the meeting. I have a short to-do list from the meeting, and several people have their action items to send me things for the website. Typically the group meets at a public library for the meeting and then down the road at a hamburger joint for socializing, and dinner for many of them. Two friends were stopping for coffee instead, then going to just hang out and socialize. So I went with them to get a latte (which, bless his heart, Thomas treated me to my drink!), and then over to the Carl's Jr for relaxing with friends. I'm still having problems hearing conversations when there's lots of white noise, and one of these days really ought to have my hearing tested again. (Not that this will improve my hearing, just I really ought to know how bad it is, scientifically. I already know how bad it is, anecdotally.) But I did have fun chatting about calligraphy and projects with Aliskye, and just general mayhem with Ben and Saul. And since it was household-rapier practice night, I also rang up Lot to see if they were done with practice and headed to coffee. I'd already had all the caffeine I needed (and probably more than I "needed," technically) so I just got a juice and a sandwich, since dinner was easily 5 hours ago. I got to hang out with Jeff, Theresa & Alan, Eric, Matt, and then later Ben and Saul dropped by, too. I adore my household (and sister-household)! Then a final late-night drive home, but I had only half the distance to drive that Matt had. I'm impressed he travels so far to join us on Tuesday nights. Hmm. Someone who drives as much or more than I do, at least for a few appointments. *grin* Wed Jun 14 - Today I'm working through the idea of HABITS. "What am I in the habit of doing?" This question is ringing through my head, and I'm bouncing around ideas about which habits just need to be tweaked, and which brand new habits would I like to develop and establish. Two co-workers have occasionally asked for my input on how to get organized. Each of them has different approaches to their current "mess" and what they'd like to see happen on a regular basis, to be organized. Every time we get together, it gives me different ideas and perspectives for my own organizational habits and goals. And as Thomas said last night, It's only "hard" [to do something] if you do the "hard part." * * * * * After work I met up with Adrienne at one of those you-paint-the-pottery type stores, where we worked on a "Sooper Seekrit" gift together. I took some photos of the piece before it gets fired in the kiln, so I cannot wait to have the finished piece for some before/after photos. It was a wonderful time spent with her, and I'm definitely going to return to this store as often as time and money and inspiration will afford. * * * * * Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Jessica, and Craig, for each putting up with me in different ways.
