A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Commenting, Tweets, and Off to Potrero

Some Opening Comments - You all amuse me, did you know that?

Etiennette -- I'm so thrilled you knew the Eddie Izzard quote, and of course, I shouldn't have been surprised.

Enid -- Of course I call you Sarah when I call your roomie Sam! Hee hee.

Aliskye -- I didn't get to see the Morris Dancing this year, but I'll be sure to keep you in mind for future May Day Morris Dancing gigs, if I'm going. And yes, I'm working on updating more often.

Lynn -- *hugs* for everything, all the time. I tweet for you, because I care. *grin*

Bébhinn -- Hee hee. Newest staff member. *giggle*

Bob -- You mean you're more of a blue and white guy than all purple, all the time? And I did actually tell Ford, and I got a form-letter email back that invited me to buy another Ford anytime. *rolls eyes*

Sasha Khan -- Doesn't everyone who's anyone know Lev? *hee hee*

Amya -- Yes, my dear. We have a team of four now! Pet, Minion, Pixie, and Selkie. Let the parties begin!

And speaking of amusement, listen to some music composed with only Windows XP and 98 sounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsU3B0W3TMs

What's Twitter Anyway? - A dear friend asked me "So what's up with twitter, and why do you use it?" And the question reminded me that I do like to explain my jargon and technology things, in addition to always trying to explain my SCA things.

Twitter is a way to do "micro-blogging" ... little one-liner bursts of no more than 140 characters, that you can update from the web, your phone's text messaging, whatever. The addictive property is when you're out and about, something cool happens and you think "gee, I wish I were updating my journal or blog right this second!" you can send a twitter and it automatically updates your "status." Also, you can subscribe to "follow" other Twitters, and see all their little posts too... on the web, on your phone, wherever.

Software like LoudTwitter will bundle all the little one-liner bursts and make one LiveJournal (LJ) post. So if your LJ friends don't want to get involved in Twitter, at least they'll see one daily LJ post with all your little comments from the day. I'm thinking that since I use both LJ and Journalscape, I might do a weekly digest of my Twitter posts over on the Journalscape side, so my non-LJ readers can follow along too. *grin* I actually resisted joining Twitter for a while, and then thought "what the heck, why not try it?"

Often, you read a "tweet" by answering "What are you doing right now?" Sometimes my comments are in answer to "what are you doing?" and other times, they are just one-liner comments. Here's a digest of my Twitter posts so far. Each line starts off with the time-of-day when the comment was posted.

Tue May 20 Tweets

Wed May 21 Tweets

* 17:58 - bread, check. contacts, check. costuming meet-up and delivery, check. new job lead, priceless. [fear of the new commute, constant]

So, I'll be bundling these up at the end of the week, and putting them at the end of my journal post. That way you can read or ignore them as you like, but they can be entertaining, and it will remind me to post to my journal more often. Who knows? Maybe you'll be mentioned in a forthcoming tweet soon! *grin*

Prepping for Potrero - Panic, panic, panic. I have to wrap up a presentation at work, make sure I paid all my bills (I think I have 2 left to pay before leaving for the weekend), hurry home, throw together my packing, call my carpooling buddy, and stitch the last seam on the waist band of Bill's new pants. I'll be doing the buttons and the repair on his old pants, as Mark drives. Yay for carpooling!

Then, for those of you who are unaware of what Potrero is, this means I'll be in San Diego camping with the SCA for the entire Memorial Day weekend. I'll be checking email and phone messages intermittently, since there are several job interview arrangements I'm expecting to schedule for next week. Wish me luck -- both for an enjoyable camping event and for my job interviews!

* * * * *
Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Mark, I'm so glad to be carpooling with you!
