A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

If it's written down, I know it (If it's not written down, I don't know it)
If it's color-coded, I understand it (If it's not color-coded, I don't understand it)

Six Changes, Blessings, and an Old Draft

Six Changes - My friend David (Griffin) has been following or pursuing a technique called "Six Changes" and posting about it on his twitter feed. Along the way, I ran across this post: From http://rock.hymasfamily.org/blog/2010/02/19/6-changes-in-action/ ... which also references http://6changes.com/

* Choose a habit to develop
* Only work on one at a time
* Build anticipation up to a starting date - (Pick a date one week from now, make a written plan with 8 baby weekly steps, talk about it)
* Commit publicly to the overall habit
* Break the habit into 8-9 small steps
* Choose habits and steps that can be done daily
* Add one of the small steps each week for two months
* Commit publicly to each step when you start it
* Report publicly on your progress

I think it is time I try something like this. My most recent goal has been to Declutter My Home. So here goes: I won't do *all* my posting on this journal, but I'll likely have some status reports. I will most likely make a daily mention of my progress on my twitter feed, which occasionally I duplicate (copy/paste) on status updates such as Facebook.

* * * * *
And I just feel like mentioning my Blessings First:

Today's Blessing(s) That I'm Thankful For: I have a job. I have a home. I have enough to eat. I have artistic skills. I have energy. I have health. I have friends. I have wonderful family.

Social Fallacies - A couple of weeks ago, I made note of an interesting link posted to a discussion group: http://www.plausiblydeniable.com/opinion/gsf.html

I've summarized what I think the article is saying about the Five Fallacies, and how I believe in responding to these fallacies.

(1) "Ostracizers are Evil: So we should endure any behavior, or we're just as bad as any other Ostracizer." Correct, this is a myth that we should bust. I would love to say "No, Some behavior is inappropriate, and should not be tolerated." (2) "Friends Accepts Me As I Am: No one who criticizes me is my friend." No, unconditional friendship does not exclude friendly criticism designed to improve things. (3) "Friendship Before All: If there's conflict, obviously you're not my friend." No, our friendship does not elevate you to a protected class of people. And frankly, we're not 5 years old any more. (4) "Friendship is Transitive: All *my* friends should easily get along with one another." No, friends of friends are not always matched to be friends. You could easily get along with polar opposites. (5) "Friends Do Everything Together: Everyone is invited, and being not-invited is a snub." No, some activities do not lend well to everyone participating. Not everyone has to do everything together.

These seem to make a lot of sense to me. They *definitely* remind me of various people, places, and times I've lived through.

There's no real reason that I'm sharing this with you now, just that it was in my drafts and needed to be wrapped up.
