Had a really good LARA meeting today. Did an interesting exercise on outlining your novel in 30 minutes - but I'm not sure now, on reflection, if what I came up with I'm going to keep. Maybe I'll do it again and see what happens. My instinct for chick lit has temporarily fled and drama seems to rule the day - and that just isn't on, dude.

But anyway, Jenn came to our meeting (the new location (a Barnes & Noble on Ventura Blvd.) is so much nicer than the old location, I can see us gaining in membership easily now) and then she took me out to lunch! It was great spending time with her and talking shop.

So I found myself working on the laptop in the living room yesterday - to my dh's pleased surprise. There is so much paper floating in my office that I couldn't think in here! But now I've gotten the floor cleaned - well, except for stuff I need to put into my address book, or file elsewhere - and the desk is the next bit to tackle. The trouble is, my new/old desk is smaller than the last one I had, and there's less room for some of my junk. Which means I should get rid of it. And I will, I mean, I finally put into a good will bag an afghan and all the assorted yarns that I've only been working on for - oh, more than a decade. I can toss stuff out. Really.

And then maybe I'll be able to focus on writing. Really get this year off the ground, 'cause time's awasting and I ain't getting any younger.

(Trumpet call here.) Onward! Brain and fingers poised for greatness! Let's get moving, people!
