Christine's New Chapter

Rewriting is a lot like housekeeping. Sometimes it seems like just when you finish one spot, it's dirty again. So it goes.

At times I feel that I have nothing new to say, that my stories aren't life-changing, that I am so far from being a Carson McCullers as I am from being a toad. Those days are depressing. (Currently re-re-reading The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. Which Carson wrote when she was 23. That is obviously not where my talents lie.)

But then the lovely and wise Jenn sent me an email. She'd seen a quote in someone else's journal and passed it on to a couple of her friends. I'm putting it here, because this is something I need to remember.

"Every story has already been told, but you haven't told every story. Originality does not lie in plot, it lies in voice, and yours is the only one of its kind."

Now there's a thought to perk up a writer's spirit, no matter what kind of day its been. Thanks, Jenn.

Christine's New Chapter Never look down... DEMON SOUL was released in MARCH, 2011 by Crescent Moon Press. DEMON HUNT will most likely be released 2012. This, then, is my new reality! The tumor has been removed and I'm recovering, so now it's all about the writing...and dealing with the writing.
