It's amazing how trivial problems can seem when someone's health is at stake.

I spent the morning going to the doctor with a friend of mine. She battled back breast cancer and radiation and is doing well, but her dental hygenist found a 'spot' on the underside of her tongue, and suggested she get it biopsied. You just don't wait around when it's inside your mouth, apparently.

So this morning was biopsy morning. It was tough on her; she's now got stitches in her tongue. But the doctor was reassuring, told her it's probably just a papilloma...not malignant, as it was soft and mushy not hard edged. (Test results by the end of next week.) She feels much better now, but it was an interesting experience being someone's rock, someone that isn't family that is. (Apparently her husband doesn't handle these things well, and she didn't want to tell him until she'd had the biopsy done.)

The car will die when it dies, not a lot I can do about that. I've got a line on a dryer, used, that I can maybe get for $75. And there's always one of the kids' stereos that we can use for awhile, if need be.

At least we're all (knock wood) healthy.

I'm going outside to come up with some more stories to write, and to enjoy the air and the greenery and the birdies chirping.

The weekend looms...it's all soccer weekend, all the time, in Santa Barbara. There are worse places to spend a weekend.
