Christine's New Chapter
Never look down...

DEMON SOUL was released in MARCH, 2011 by Crescent Moon Press. DEMON HUNT will most likely be released 2012. This, then, is my new reality! The tumor has been removed and I'm recovering, so now it's all about the writing...and dealing with the writing.

Wiped out but better

Pages Written... 0
Exercise Done... 1 hr Pilates

I donated blood today, and I am wiped out. They had a hard time getting the last 2 vials of blood out of me for testing - and it hurt, damn it. I'm still woozy 3 1/2 hours after the event. Donating blood is so not on my good time list.

Had a wonderful phone meeting with Laura today. She basically asked questions that came up in her mind as she read my work. We had an excellent discussion and she mentioned many things she liked. Unfortunately, it seems I crossed a ton of taboos in my story (for the Desire line, anyway) - and she said I needed to pick and choose which ones to keep in and which to lose, if this indeed is the book I want to pitch. She said, also, that there were so many things going on that I may want to consider expanding it and making it a single title book.

And there it is, the kick in the ass I needed. I think she's right. I told her about my current story, and again she said it sounded like single title not Desire. There are too many things I want to include that just don't fit in 200 pages.

So in going forward with the current story, I think I'll expand it pages-wise to 400 (about 100K words) and do some pruning of the Evie story. She also helped me with my synopsis - I took some great notes. And after our hour-long chat, I went to Pilates. Ugh. That is probably also why I'm not feeling too chipper right now.

I guess I'll finish up chapter two and possibly three of the current story, write up a pitch for it (hopefully I can snag someone at the spotlights) and then move back to Evie. Laura really gave me some great advice - one bit is, Secrets from the characters in your book, Good! Secrets from the reader about the characters in your book, Not So Good! At least in the Evie novel.

There it is. I'm wiped out, yes, but feeling better. If that makes any sense.
