We have bats who come out and play in our garden at dusk. My husband and I will be sitting out in the back yard, he'll be playing a banjo or a guitar, and as it gets darker, the bats come out to play.

They swoop over our heads, flutter in rollercoaster loops around and around. Up and over the roof and back again.

Usually we only see two. Tonight we've seen five at one time. Hubby said they're there for the bugs, but I didn't think we had airborne bugs. I'm never bothered by them.

At any rate, it's a happy garden that has bats swooping through it on a summer night.

Oh, and the sickle of the waxing moon, as it followed the sun in the west, was a breathtaking sight. Beautiful when there was still light in the sky - outstanding in the deepening dark.
