As of today, my garden is doing fairly well. I've got about 50 onions in various stages of readiness; that and the parsley, sage (past it's first bloom but still beautiful) and mint are all ready to be used. The basil is still puny; must buy more soon.

In the recently-planted arena, I've got snap peas, pole green beans, zucchini (black beauty), and cucumbers. Unfortunately, a lot of my prime planting places have been - claimed - by volunteer sunflowers.

I love sunflowers, and can never seem to grow them from seed. Rather, it's hit and miss for me. This year I didn't plant any, and I've got about 15 sunflower plants of various varieties that have popped up - a few amid my onions, more in my beans. Some I did manage to transplant, the others I'm leaving where they are and considering them a blessing. So at this point, the flowers are my stars - the vegetables, as much as I cherish picking them in the summer, are merely window-dressing to the stars of the garden.
