2009-06-16 6:17 AM crochet and writing Last night I started a new crochet project. It is a sweater from a large size pattern book-can't remember the title for the life of me. Anyway, a friend in ST. Louis gave me a cone of a chenille type yarn/thread. It is multi color-red, yellow, blue, purple-real short color changes-approx the length of yarn a single crochet stitch would use. The sweater starts at the neck and works down-front, then the back and you stitch them together, then work sleeves and attach. It is in a fan stitch with post stitches between each fan. I decided to make it looser and just short sleeved to wear over a dark t-shirt. It is coming together very well. This chenille doesn't shed-I have started several projects with it and frogged it several times. Little wearing out. It will work up quickly.
Is it just my impression or is journalscape a site that has a proponderance of authors? Or those in the publishing business or related-i.e. critics etc.? Or am I just hitting those type of journals by 'accident'? In one of my earlier posts I mentioned how someone left 5 paper sacks full of books in the laundry room-I ended up with 1 full sack. What I didn't mention is that most of the books appear to be prereleased books-several have "check with publisher before quoting as a resoure" notations. I have read one of those books-this was a fictional account-name of the book escapes me. It is not a book I remember seeing, but then again, my favorite book store is Borders.(since I can usually find lots of crochet books and independent book stores were not around in the town I lived in-I haven't explored all of DC yet-I am sure there are more bookstores than B&N and Borders.) Well, time to catch up on who I like to read. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
