Mood: She's a he? Read/Post Comments (4) |
2010-06-04 6:35 AM learning new things Ok, this will tell you that I never took a college English Lit class. I read. I read a lot. I read across the board. Classics-Poe, Shakespeare, mind candy romances-Harlequin I have supported and yard saled like you wouldn't believe-sorry moved and couldn't ship ALL those books; Dickens. We go shopping excursions-the first store hit-not clothes, not food, but Borders! But I didn't know that D.H. Lawrence was a man. Found out last night when I checked our "getting rid of it" area and someone was getting rid of their college books. (had to be, there are notes in the margins and the topics of the books, well dead give away.) The book title-D.H. Lawrence, Sons and Lovers. Looked interesting, I had picked up Lady Chatterly's Lover (in the TBR pile) in the same place, who knows, maybe from the same person. I started reading the introduction. HUH? Whoa-she's a he? Now I really do have to read it!! I picked up a 'Great Expectations' by Dickens but this goes into the background, gives the story and also the original format of how it was released in serial format. Has reprints of letters, so it is a study of the life period of Dickens while he was writing GE. There are 2 other books I picked up, can't remember the names, but the DH Lawrence one was the shocker. I don't know why I thought he was a she. Any ideas?
Started working on the center panel of the TOF afghan. That will be worked on at home-it may be portable for a few rows, but not many. The side panels are definately portable-this project has me going. I do have to pick up yarn, probably next weekend since this one is needed to get ready for work trip out of town. Ongoing saga: (ya'll can skip if want) We saw the counselor last night. Finally came to the conclusion that I was angry that we had to be there. I should not have let it get that bad. Counselor said when things are happening, people don't say anything when they are little things. Then it all piles up and it becomes too big. They don't know where to start. That was the purpose of the "homework". Just to get us to talk. We will still have arguements-ups & downs. She liked are basic plan because it works for us. May not work for the next couple. But it is working. We are even talking before work. Surprising how fast you can resolve an issue when there is only 1 to resolve not 1 covering up 100. Some things are still hard-some things are taken personally when there isn't any thing behind an action, but we are working on it. We are going out tonight with my hubbys former boss. She retired and made the effort to contact hubby about getting both couples getting together for brunch. That morphed to dinner tonight. We are going to Clydes which is a medium range restaurant-fairly nice. Her hubby is a government employee too. Well, time to get to work.
