Learning new things

Yup, cables are not difficult. Keeping track of what row you are working in a knitting pattern is a little more tricky until you get the repeat going. I am working on a simple pattern called "Irish Hiking Scarf". It has three cables with ribbing between. Pattern calls for worsted weight yarn-I am using baby yarn-all I had. But I bought my first double pointed needles, so I can see myself learning to knit socks too!

And hubby did make decision on sweater. He thinks it is easier because it looks plainer. Laugh is on him, I have learned that plain looking doesn't mean easier-the pattern he chose has the sleeves worked directly onto the body of the sweater. And the body of the sweater is worked in the round. I already know that starting that kind of sweater can be tricky -twisting the first row becomes a potential problem.

But I am having fun. And it is working pretty in yarn I had-it is a colorway called Easter basket. I have a good 2 inches done already-and it is on a size 5 needle.
