2011-08-24 6:36 AM All shook up Yeah, we got shook up.
People panic and don't know how to act. Don't follow the procedures they have read about for each year that they have taken "Mandatory Briefings". Stay inside untill it is over-then go outside. If not severe, stay inside. We evacuated. Eventually sent home. Only one thing fell off shelf. Cat was upset. It was not a "rolling" sensation, but a true 'shaking'. This part of the country is on granite, solid bedrock, not sand, and it was a 'shallow quake', not a deep plate movement. But it was felt to Illinois and up into Canada. So, I would not be suprised if there are ripples in the neighboring plates soon. But the news today is that in a 7 story building, we have no real working elevators. Only the 2 freight elevators have been cleared. Uh, why are we opened? and why are there no signs on the elevators? I told my boss that if I worked on a different floor, I would have turned around and gone home. Health reasons, I do not do multiple floors-asthma! He was surprised about the elevators too. Usually they will clear at least one bank, there are 7 banks of elevators and none are cleared. DH is working from home. Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
