I am of an age where I am close to going through menopause.

My mom died over 20 years ago, most of my close aunts have also passed on, and I am no longer close to the older cousins that would have gone through this part of life. My sister had a hysterectomy in her 30's. So I do not know who to ask this question-already talking to my GYN, but what comes next?

I am already spotting after my cycle ends-it seems to stop and then it starts back up again. Went to GYN yesterday, he is running hormone panel and will call me next week. He also set me up for sonogram during next cycleto make sure all is well. He said all seems ok.

I have not been having hot flashes-I went through a period in my 40's where 'personal summers' were frequent, but they stopped-cycles didn't!

I have not been getting night sweats either.

I am at a loss as to what comes next. Almost scared, but not quite, afterall, so many women have done this before me and it cannot be any worse than the last 40 years, right?
