2011-01-10 5:15 PM Untouched by human hands. Another short film about retirement. Today I had jazz band practice and tonight I sail off to rejoin a community band I had to leave when I went on evening shift in 2001. But home between bands and, heck, instruments (tonight's is easier to carry!) I look through my mail and here is a notice from my health provider I have been terminated from my coverage, but here are some wonderful options and the numbers to reach them.
After calls to other agencies I end up calling the down town benefits department of my employer for a constant loop of overtone-sapped classical string music and a reminder every second my call will be dealt with. It was in half an hour, extending past the announced time to call said department What was left of me after this Satre redolent aural torture discovered all was fine. My employer terminated me as an active person, such a nice throught, and immediately reinstated me as retiree. I had done all the right steps! But here the cyber world kicks in: Even if this took a billionth of a second it still triggered my provider to send the notice, which the nice operator said I could destroy. Tell that to the fallen trees slaughtered by this relentless triggering perfected by years of refining program codes. I mentioned the original "Tron" in another post. If one buys religious allegories at all, the notion of little people inside the computer making alliances and conflicts is as fine an example of the genre as can be had.
