2012-11-14 5:42 PM Blue Bossa---who's your Daddy? In "The Empire Strikes Back" Darth Vader struck a blow with his light saber and Luke Skywalker instantly dropped a hand from the inventory. Near the end of the film he was provided an artifical one, thank you Lucas-land.
The follow-up duel between the two in "Return Of The Jedi" found Luke returning the favor, but this time we saw the dark one's severed hand----along with blinking lights and sizzling, frayed wires. Then Luke looked at his own more recent equivalent . . . Well, the following years saw three unfortunate sequels with the last one finally gaining a bit of speed near the end when the nature of the Vader---not ending up a robot but it may have looked more attractive---was revealed. I drove the same vehicle during those years and at the end I couldn't lock the broken driver door; not even the "Here, Buddy, Find Your Part" emporiums had the out of stock missing piece. This morning I drove Blue Bossa over to the train station after indoor cycling class to view the Coast Starlight, a Wednesday ritual. The station agent handed me a flyer the annual Metrolink Holiday Train was stopping there on December 2nd after an absence. Not high on my list of priorities and I already have two conflicting bands on that date during that time. But I went to the car to deposit the paper, as there was time, and what was this noise? And the electric lock not coming up? Holding the key steady opened the other doors and windows, a nice gesture since Mr. Genius' house keys and wallet were inside. But yes, Luke, that driver door lock. This time it's being fixed; I forgot my bicycle cleats when I left the shop, took the bus back over to fetch them and saw the door was disassembled. Not quite as Grand Guginol as when Blue Bossa was practically headless, being readied for the replacement engine. Ought to be ready tomorrow. Yes, the hazards of all this tricked-up electric stuff. Sometimes I'd prefer Ed Wood, Jr. to George Lucas. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
