Dark Horse
The life and times of a meditative horse trainer.

I'm a second generation born and raised Alaskan. I've very proud of that, my roots are here. While I want to see as much of the world as I can, I want to raise my children here. I'm a dedicated student of the horse, of life and I love to learn. I try to leave no stone unturned in my life. Nothing is good if taken at just face value there is always more, to people, an animal, a thought, a dream. I'm an intensity junky, I live my life with passion as if every action were my very last, and I love the colors that this passion has brought to me. It's my hope to share this small window of myself with my readers. If you surfed in please make yourself at home and stay a while, if your one of my loved one's who are here, I love you for all you have educated me in to make my life this amazing.

The Sweetest Thing - March 2005

I seriously might be tarnishing my tough girl image with a title like this aren’t I? It has none of my normal cynical rhetoric to be found. Has another one bit the dust? Nah the walking, talking female contradiction still lives – she’s just in a happier place. The stiletto-heeled fury is still alive and well.

However given the light of spring, change of seasons and return of sun to our Alaskan lives I find myself thinking of fluffy bunnies and Easter eggs, okay actually it’s those pink marshmallow Peeps that I’m thinking of but hey! And as this week we are operating under the powerful flow of a Pisces moon, things are going to change (I know, you're shocked)! The New Moon this week is slowing us down by entering the sign of Pisces. Even though Uranus happens to be in Pisces, too, the moon is far enough away as to give us a bit of a reprieve. Prepare yourself for an onslaught of the celebrities from your past; people you haven't seen in a while but were a big part of your movie at one point. Sometimes, Pisces has a way of making our life seem like a movie with great cinematography, remarkable script, superb acting and other times, well, it can feel like a low budget horror film that even Ed Wood would ignore!

Under the Pisces influence, we are likely to feel a bit scattered, with less energy, more addictions, and certainly more imagination. Eeeek as If I of all people need more addictions, I’m far to frequent a client at the mercy of gluttony! This is the sign that rules Music, Drugs, Dreams/Creativity, Movies, and Spirituality/Religion. During our 2-week influence of the Pisces New Moon, our eyes aren't on the details of life but the entire picture, not the Violin, but the entire orchestra and not just one drink but the whole bottle, great just what my liver needs! Remember, as we approach a New Moon (Thursday, way early in the morning) the light of the Moon becomes dark and can make us feel a little depressed or out of sorts. That's why it's a good idea to plant seeds of your intentions, not only for the 'hope' that it provides but for the exercise of going within.

So why ever did I entitle this weekly dose of the stars “’The Sweetest Thing” well if you even halfway know me you know that with everything I’ve been through I can find enlightenment in a damned Ketchup bottle at a restaurant if I give my Monkey Mind a moment to focus. But with my thoughts on planting the seeds of intent (and Marshmallow Peeps) I was thinking of the sweet things in your life that make up the garden that will bloom this spring. I’m a proprietor of practicing grace on a daily basis. The beauty of Grace is that you receive blessings for no reason at all. As above so below. Practice random acts of grace. Give to others for no reason. Offer kindness to those who are undeserving, love those to nobody else loves and believe that everyone is here for a purpose – they are just on a different spiritual timeline.

Your sweetest thing may be the song by U2, or the movie with Cameron Diaz, working in a soup kitchen or the random thoughtful act of a healthy addiction to pineapple juice. Hey that’s your call! If you have a second I’d love to hear personally what your Sweetest Thing is, I love those isights into your minds! Given the seriousness of the week with Pisces influence, be gentle to yourself, and remember that we are like Oceans of Water asking for a drink or Bright Suns asking for a little light. We are more than we imagine, we are more beautiful than we believe we are only lacking the willingness to remember.
