Dark Horse
The life and times of a meditative horse trainer.

I'm a second generation born and raised Alaskan. I've very proud of that, my roots are here. While I want to see as much of the world as I can, I want to raise my children here. I'm a dedicated student of the horse, of life and I love to learn. I try to leave no stone unturned in my life. Nothing is good if taken at just face value there is always more, to people, an animal, a thought, a dream. I'm an intensity junky, I live my life with passion as if every action were my very last, and I love the colors that this passion has brought to me. It's my hope to share this small window of myself with my readers. If you surfed in please make yourself at home and stay a while, if your one of my loved one's who are here, I love you for all you have educated me in to make my life this amazing.

My Grandmothers Spirit - March 2005

It has indeed been a while since I’ve compiled my thoughts into writing, how many of you have missed me? Or are you part of the crowd sighing and thinking “Oh heavens she’s at it again!” Whichever you are I’m back – with all my spiky heeled ferocity. I’m back during the feisty re-entrance of Aries into our lives. February and the time of Aquarius quite literally flew by and its hand was rather gentle in my life. For once! The month of March is here and goody gumdrops it has a Mercury Retrograde in it! During the last RX I chose to be a glass half full kinda gal and it worked out rather well for me, this time will be no different. Except for the fact that this RX is falling around tax time, which should make us shake in our boots a bit. My advice…. Double and triple check every piece of information you get!

Spring is upon us, it may not quite feel like it but it is close! My equine sundial named Carbon has begun to shed his winter woolies already! And with that comes change… Often the anticipation of change is more difficult than change itself depending on whether you enjoy change or not. If you are ready for change, you'll love this month and its promise of springtime enthusiasm. There will be things to finish and certainly there could be delays, but what fun would it be if our lives just effortlessly shifted? Don't answer that, just accept that change is inevitable and that you enjoy the challenges, even if you think you don't.

This week marks the 13th year of my grandmothers passing, which turns my thoughts to outrageous acts of kindness. I never heard a false, cruel or condescending word escape her lips. She was that perfect balance of Wild Woman – she was also a true pioneering spirit. Her accomplishments may not ever be written about, but they were no less great than any other Alaskan pioneer. She has been on my mind a lot lately, whenever I’m in a situation and not sure how to react I try to act as she would. Because she always acted from her heart to the heart of another, with a true intent. She was the Grande Spirit in my life.

So this got me to thinking about grandmothers on a far grander scale and what that word used to mean. Every time we listen closely to someone in pain, or offer help without resenting it; every time we cook a special meal or mend someone's wound, or bite our tongue knowing that it could be cruel if we didn't, we're honoring of our grandmothers. Every moment of every day we may be faced with the opportunity to exhibit this honor, to make the world a better place. I’m a realist heart and soul, I realize that each and every one of us has Polarity in us, it’s Universal Law to be dual. It is not “human nature” its universal! All beings and nature have Polarity. Interestingly enough in the Seven Laws of the Universe Polarity also is related to your heart charka – how very very fitting. Even more fitting it also relates to the Thymus Gland which produces T-cells that heal your body. I risk sounding incredibly mushy here but I will be brave and say “LOVE HEALS”.

So as we emerge from the darkness of winter, after facing down the shadows and demons, I for one and emerging this spring in honor of my grandmother who was the epitome of Wild Woman, all the Polarity in one unified grace. Take a moment; honor their memory with an Outrageous Act of Kindness.

Until next time, may you all find peace, love, light and serenity on your quest, Teresa
