Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Iris3: 421

Chiro appt in the a.m., then I went to the Psychic Eye Bookshop, where I bought four crystals to put in the four corners of the house when I cleanse it, and two types of incense, and a Darwin fish for the car. They’re hiring right now; 32 hrs/wk, but does include weekends. I’ll have to think about this. If I can tell them what weekends/Saturdays I can’t work well in advance, maybe it would work out. (Yeah, okay, I admit it—I’m hot for the discount I’d get!) Anyway, then popped into a used bookstore, where I bought two romances, one SF, and one kid’s book; then mailed a story (IRCs are a pain) and did a ton of food shopping.

The phone was ringing when I got home—it was Ken. Marty (his mom’s friend who’s a contractor) was supposed to come over tonight to discuss some of our repairs/renovations, but he’s rescheduled for tomorrow noon. So instead, we’re going to the movies! Star Wars ep 2 is still playing in Irvine. (Yes, it’s true, we haven’t seen it yet.) He called again a bit later to say that his flight was delayed for three hours, but he’s booked on another one; he’ll get in about an hour later than expected. No prob. I’ll have dinner waiting (crunchy chicken, brown rice, broccoli).

Okay, vignette number three is finished; I can e-mail the two of them to Teresa when she gets back from Pennsic. I’ve also made a few more notes on the hot tub story, “Testing the Waters”. I realised I need to mull a little longer about the mystery itself and how to set it up. I think it’s going to be less of a whodunnit and more of a woman-in-peril story (i.e., the reader will figure out who the bad guy is before she does). What’s amazing is how much I already know about the main character. She just fell into my lap. (Hmmm. Sounds like another erotica piece! :-P)
