Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Have I bored you yet?

“Testing the Waters”: 389

I’ve spent most of today (well, from noon to 7 p.m.) answering e-mails and doing small tasks. Ack. I don’t know how I let my InBox get to overflowing like that. It’s down to 10 items, with 20 in the Drafts folder.

I won the KKR books! I’ll be getting the money order tomorrow. Whee! Probably spent too much for them, but it’s the whole set, and I can sell the four I already have.

Got a rejection today from thephonebook.com for a flash fic piece. Not sure where to send it next. Now my brain is coming up with a different version of the story… Actually, Ideomancer rejected the flash version but said if I wrote a longer version, they’d love to see it. Hmmm…

Just downloaded a nifty moon phases program, and ordered another birthday present for Ken. That makes three, which is probably enough. (My mom asked for suggestions and I gave her the other thing I was thinking about buying, until I saw this last thing.) I’ve got tons of ideas for Yule, too. Hee hee.

Gods, my life sounds boring if that’s all I have to report. Lately, I do feel like this journal is getting dull. But, working at home, there’s not much else going on—most days I write, tidy, make dinner. And when Ken’s in Portland (as his is again from today through Friday), there’s even less to report.

Amazing to think that a year ago, we’d just returned from a three-week motorcycle trip through the Alps. And that now some of the places we visited—Prague, Dresden—are battling flood waters and desperately trying to keep their historic buildings and national treasures safe.
