2002-10-07 11:59 PM Cleverly mis-labelled Wow, I barely remember yesterday. What else did I do? I worked on modifying an old leine into a t-tunic, stopping when the black serger went wonky on me. I made garlic-lemon pork loin, brown rice, and steamed broccoli for supper and we watched “Charmed” and “Angel” (hmmm…could be a good season for that show, too). I’m sure there was more stuff in there, but I dunno.
This morning I had a chiro appt, and then we came home and ate lunch. I copy edited for a few hours, and Ken installed a big bright light in the sewing room. We went through boxes in the garage to find my partially made cloak, which we’d started in Wales and left out until the last minute thinking we’d have time to work on it (eternally optimistic, that’s us). So it wasn’t in any of the sewing boxes. Wanna know what the box was labelled? “Games”. It had my cloak bits and a few sewing supplies, and bottles of Black Mountain Liqueur (I’d been wondering where those had gotten to, too). Also found another box of altar books (I think the erotica was cleverly mis-labelled, too) and Samhain stuff. We made a list of things we need to do over the next few days. Ken reserved an RV so we’ll be going to war in style and comfort.(Here’s a scary side-note: There won’t be much going on, on site, on Wednesday; we were mostly heading out to help with stuff. So I’ll probably bring the laptop and do more copy editing and writing in the RV…) The booklets are all ready to be picked up, and I’ll be stuffing the packets tomorrow. My car’s not yet done (they put it back together and test drove it, and want to do some more fiddling) so Jackie’s probably going to go out with us, because we need a vehicle that’s bigger than the bike for the boxes and boxes of booklets. Eek. It’s nearly 3 a.m. We’ve been helping people sew since 7:30 p.m. We had quite a roomful this time: Maren, Helen, Thorin, Jonathan, and Jonathan’s friend whose name I never caught (Beth?). Thorin’s still out there with Ken, and will leave with a new tunic. Jonathan has a new tunic, and Maren has a cotehardie, except for the hem and front fastening (and trim, which she plans to weave). I helped others and hung out; there was no room on the cutting table, and I couldn’t concentrate on embroidery. Ah well. So, I picked up four boxes of Gate Booklets and three boxes of Combat Booklets tonight. I randomly opened a box of Cbs and flipped through one…and found an upside-down page. All of the bundles of 20 in that box had the page wrong. More frighteningly, a spot check of the other three boxes revealed about six more bundles with wrong pages. Maren found one bundle of five wrong and fifteen right. So despite the spot checking, more could be wrong… Yet another reason for the deadline. If I could have picked everything up a week ago, I would have had time to go through every freakin’ booklet. As it is, they’ll be re-doing 450, which I’ll pick up tomorrow night. I can’t even get stressed about this. It’s just my luck… I don’t think we’re going to make it to the site by noon tomorrow… Tomorrow I have to stuff the Gate Packets, finish sewing my cloak, hopefully finish the neckline of a white linen leine, and pack. Wednesday we’ll pick up the RV and drive it back here and pack it before we head to the site. It occurred to me that not much will be going on at the event on Wednesday, and only a little on Thursday, and the RV will have electrical hookup, so I’m taking the laptop. Mostly for copy editing, but for some writing as well. Geek Central… It looks as though a lot of people are picking up the NaNoWriMo challenge. That’s cool. I haven’t signed up yet, but I’m seriously thinking about doing Blackwood House. I’ve done some plotting, but need to do some more. I want to know what’s supposed to happen in each chapter, and about how long each chapter should be. I don’t usually plot this heavily, so it’s a good stretch for me. The only other things on my plate for November are Coronation & Queen’s Champion (in Long Beach, so we’ll come home at night) Keilyn and Ormswyn’s wedding in Baltimore (a long weekend?) and a couple of maybe day events. So it should be do-able, even if I do some copy editing in there. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
