Mood: Somewhat better Read/Post Comments (3) |
2003-04-17 11:59 PM Ramblings I’m feeling better today. Still slow, but not as fatigued. I’ve beaten back the stuffed nose with nasal spray, and I’m not coughing as much. But I’m still going to take it easy, because overdoing it will land me right back in bed.
I forgot to mention that the full moon was very bright last night in a crisp, clear sky, lighting up the backyard. After watching “Angel”, we went outside and stood in the moonlight. I would’ve loved to go to the beach, but I certainly didn’t have the energy for it. Ack. Well, somebody came to the door about carpet cleaning, and Ken tried to make them go away, but they offered a demo, so Ken challenged them to get the tar out of the carpet (which he’d tracked in whilst replacing the outbuilding roof. We mostly don’t care about it, because eventually we’ll rip up all the carpeting and refinish the hardwood floors beneath.). Well, they’ve been here for _hours_, and I’m in no mood to tromp through while they’re working, so I’ve been sitting here at the computer reading old journal entries and answering the occasional e-mail. Because it’ll get quiet, and I’ll assume they’re done, and then the noise starts all over again. Argh. I ventured outside for the first time in what seems like ages (Sunday, kinda, except for those two trips to the vet). Visited Eclipse, who’s gaining weight by leaps and bounds, and eating everything in sight, we’re told. She seemed in good spirits. Then we went to Trader Joe’s and Albertson’s and stocked up on food for a week or more. I still haven’t quite gotten used to the fact that vegetables and bread will last longer than 3 or 4 days here. (It took me at least a year in Britain to get used to them being mushy or moldy in that time period.) We’re trying to make sure we have lots of sauces, pastas, rices, etc., so all we have to do is buy fresh veggies and/or meat and voila, a meal appears. And, hopefully, since veggies stay fresher longer, and we have frozen chicken and beef, we won’t have to shop often. Tonight Grainne is coming over to be social and have dinner with us (shrimp Pad Thai and potstickers), and then go to the Autocrat’s Meeting with us, so I must be off to cook.
