Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Pleasant days

Heaven Has Eyes: 2265

Being productive today. I’ve written, and am still working on that; I should finish Heaven Has Eyes (the story with the working title of Saigon) today and hopefully start another. I’ve exercised and showered. I’m doing laundry. Yay me.

Ack. Well, it looks as though we’ll be getting another cat sooner than we expected. Someone in the local barony was desperately trying to find a home for her two cats before she moves—next week. We said as a last resort (if the pound was the only other option) we’d give it a try. Turns out the place where she’s going (in Vermont) will grudgingly allow one cat, so we’ve said yes to the other. A 7-year-old girl named Charlie. If Grimoire and Eostre can’t stand her, we’ll find her another home. We’ll be getting her on Saturday, just after we get home. Cross your fingers for us.

We had a fantastic evening with our friends Lev and Gayle. They’re the type of folks we desperately wish lived closer—lots of fun, intelligent, interesting… We went out for Indian food (and I have leftovers for lunch, huzzah) and then just hung out and chatted.

I haven’t quite finished Heaven Has Eyes. I’m close, but it started going in an unexpected direction, and I had to take time to pull back and consider things and read some stuff. Close, though.
