Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Must...

Too many To Do lists. There’s the usual one, which hasn’t been updated for next week because we were away. There’s the Today List, the Sunday List, and the Monday list. There’s the two-page list I wrote up while in Portland of things I couldn’t do until I got back or needed to do once I got back. Must consolidate! Must cross things off!

Must be more awake to do so!

We were so wiped out last night. I didn’t sleep well, and then we had to get up early to prepare for the corset workshop. Eleven people were scheduled to attend. One e-mailed this morning to send regrets, which is fine. Four never showed up. Of the six that did, four were an hour late, although three of them had warned me ahead of time. Argh. The final folks left at about 6:30 p.m. (we were scheduled to start at noon, and did so just after 1). We were starving, so Ken made garlic chicken fajitas, and now we’re both staring at computers… I’ve gotten a little work done. Small stuff that I don’t have to think too much about. Luckily, we have no commitments tomorrow. We need to run errands, but otherwise we can catch up on life. It’s just that there’s so much life to catch up on!

Main things: Go through all mail, sort out bills if necessary. Write important letters. Buy food. Buy stuff to make own batch of rose beads for contest. Embroider (I got none done on vacation because there was drek on TV the entire time). Proofread Society Equestrian Manual. Get back to work on ALNM, dammit!

Charlie the cat was delivered today. She seems like quite the sweetie, although she's pretty freaked out right now. The last time I went into the bedroom, she was finally out from under the bed. She allowed me to pet her, but her tail never stopped twitching and she jumped every time I moved. She hasn't eaten any food, not even the tuna-for-cats that I put down. I think she'll come around, though. I know it'll be hard for her.

She's bigger than Eclipse, and mostly black on top. She looks like she's wearing a half mask on her face. Her nose is black, which is what gave her her name--they thought she was a boy at first, and it was down to Charlie (as in Chaplin) or Hitler ("Good choice," I said). As she's grown, the mark has taken on a heart shape, so her nickname is Sweetheart.

We're keeping her in the master bedroom/bathroom for now. We might let her out/let the other cats in tomorrow; it'll depend on how she's doing.

And thus is the fascinating minutiae of my life.
