Workshop Adventure, Day 3

Good morning, pets! After writing more than 1K on my new story and reading five of the seven due at noon, I curled up in bed and fell asleep to the sound of the surf. I woke the same way, and that’s a really fine way to wake. I now have more than two hours to read two more stories and do some more work on my own (I’d like to hit 2K this morning). I’d also like to get over to the workshop house early, and see if someone can drive me to an ATM and to pick up some toothpaste.

My story was critiqued today. The prophecy was great, the story worked conceptually for the anthology, but it was too short and choppy, and needs work. If the antho sells, we’ll all be invited to submit, and Denise says I could definitely rewrite the story. Coolness beyond belief.

I was just reading another story for review, and had to laugh. That makes two of us who’ve mentioned the concept of Charles and Camilla marrying. Hee!

I’ve got 2400 words on my new story so far, and seven more stories to review. It’s 2:15 p.m. I can do this!

Easily done. Had I not wanted to take a walk on the beach, I might have started another. (Actually, what I wanted to do was start rewriting the previous story.) So I plashed in the waves and meandered over to the workshop house, scarfed Chinese food, and got a ride to an ATM and to buy toothpaste (which I’m sure everyone will be happy about).

Tonight we had to play editor, but I suppose I shouldn’t talk to much about that, since part of the point is to hit us with surprise stuff. (None of us were surprised about having to write that second story. Some of us were surprised that we only had to write one more, not two. Two people went ahead and wrote two more anyway.)

It’s after 1 a.m. I’m printing my assignment. Then I’m going to bribe someone to drive me back to the motel.
