Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Crack'd

[sigh] Took Ken to the airport this morning. Then came home and slept again. I think I got 4 hours of sleep last night if I was lucky. I had to drag myself out of bed for a chiro appt., which was much needed, although my neck didn’t want to crack entirely. Annoying. Stopped at Staples for ink for the Contraption (Ken printed into cartridge death last night). Wandered into B&N, but didn’t stay long.

The Combat Booklet, draft 1, is done! Huzzah! Annnnd, I got the Behemoth to print from one of its trays, which it hasn’t done in awhile. It prints super-fast—I’d forgotten that! I printed the final seven chapters of BH, and it hasn’t glitched. I’m so terribly happy.

Now it’s much later. I did some copy editing (not enough, though…), exercised, vacuumed the living room, showered, make and ate supper (grilled chicken and threw it in a salad). I went out the sewing room early and between that and staying out there late with two people who weren’t in need of help or the table, I managed to make two tunics! They just need hemming and the necklines edges. An undertunic of sea green/blue and an overtunic of yellow/blue/orange/green plaid-ish. (It looks better than it sounds.) I’m going to make a Viking apron dress out of the rest of the plaid, too.

Talked to Ken. Miss him. Sucks.

It’s getting cooler at night now; enough to use the comforter. It’s lovely, really. I miss the obvious changing of the seasons—autumn is my favourite time of year, but I can’t get the crisp air and brilliant flame of the leaves here. But I’m becoming more attuned to the little, subtle things: the cooler evenings, the earlier sunsets. The Wheel turns, and we turn with it.
