2003-09-10 11:59 PM Hunting Venus I woke up before the alarm this morning (it’s set more to get me up about 8 hours after I go to sleep, rather than having any real scheduling meaning), and made myself a grilled cheese sandwich that oozed cheese all over the Foreman grill. How great is that?
Fuuuuck. This journal I’m editing is kicking my ass, pets. Extra work happened on it, and I’ve been immersed in it for most of the day. I’m caught up, basically—still more to do tomorrow, but I’ll get it in before I leave for the Baronial Council meeting. I had to bow out of going to Textile Guild tonight, which sucked, but they’re doing the carding/spinning part of the sheep-to-shawl project, so it’s not as though I missed anything I was interested in. As a result, I haven’t gotten much else done today. Exercised. Tried to weed the rose bed but couldn’t find one of my gardening gloves nor the long-handled trimmer thing. Fed myself in a reasonably healthy manner. Alas, no writing, no GWW stuff. I did, however, discover something that makes me swoon in ecstasy. We saw a wonderful, hilarious TV movie in Britain called “Hunting Venus”. It was early in our stay there, and I didn’t think to tape it, not realising how many of the actors would become mainstays in our TV-watching experience there. Plus, I didn’t realise just how funny the movie was going to be. (It’s about two women who ran the fan club of a one-hit-wonder 80s band, who kidnap the former lead singer to get him to reform the band for a show.) Anyway, ITV (the station) never showed it again nor has shown any signs of releasing it on video. Well, I was listening to the soundtrack (which was released on CD) tonight, and got a little maudlin, and searched online, and found a guy who’s made a DVD-R of the movie (for Gary Neuman fans, of all things). So I need to e-mail him and arrange something; see if he’ll take US money or whether I have to bother my UK friends. Hee. Aiyee! According to Neil Gaiman, Anthony Stewart Head was on “So Graham Norton” at some point. (“So Graham Norton” is a show I cannot begin to describe to those who haven’t seen it.) Amanda, why didn’t you know about this? It looks like it was in July ‘02. Can you track this down? And while I’m being a geek fan girl, I’ll mention that this weeks TV Guide has an article about “Angel”, with Angel and Spike on the cover, and next week’s TV Guide is the fall preview, with a page about “Tru Calling” and a very nice picture of Eliza Dushku. (TV Guide liked the show, but predicts it won’t fly because it’s too confusing. Let’s be honest—if it doesn’t fly, it means the average viewer was too stupid to follow it.) I’m beyond tired. G’night.
