Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Day of Decadence

A day of decadence—not one we had time for, but one we enjoyed greatly. We got a little work done in the a.m., and then Ceridwen came to give us massages. Loooong full body massages. When Ken’s was done, we literally ran out the door to my hair appt. Which took longer than usual, but I am very vibrantly red again, and she used some extra spiffy stuff on my hair, so I’m not only vibrant, I’m practically glowing. (If you hear of any planes crashing near our house, you’ll know why.)

Then we went to visit Ken’s brother Steve and his wife Joelle and their three active boys. They fed us tortilla soup and we had a lovely evening chatting. We don’t see them enough.

Now we’re home, and I’ve answered e-mail, and soon shall hie myself to the living room and label many more Combat Booklets. “So Graham Norton” is on at midnight. I am enamoured of digital cable.

New late October plan: Ken will go up to Portland for essentially 9 days, by himself (I don’t want to miss a friend’s going-away party during the intervening weekend). After he comes home, however, we’re going to do a mini bike trip (as opposed to a minibike trip) down to Julian and thereabouts, and go to Calafia Anniversary. Then he’ll leave for Korea a few days later. I still have little idea if I’ll go anywhere in November. If I finish some crucial short stories this month, then maybe I’ll do NaNoWriMo in November—although I might do a modified version of it and just work on unfinished novels.
